Finding a real financial freedom formula

So many people that are caught up in this economic downturn are wondering what their financial future will be. Housing, banking, et al, is being “Federalized” right before our eyes.

We are witnessing the effort to “socialize” our country’s economic backbone and put the reigns of power directly into the hands of the government. It reminds us that government is not altruistic, it is out for itself completely.

We have lost the battle, but the war is still on!

Philosophy aside, what does this mean for the average American Joe or Jane? What can “we the people” do to either stem the tide or remain afloat amid the rushing waters of cultural change? The answer, to me at least, is simple: take control of your financial life out of the hands of the powers that be. Seek answers that you can do, and live with, that augment or replace your current financial mechanism(s). Whether that be 9 to 5, a retail store front, whatever!

Many opportunities, real and imagined, can be found. From affiliate marketing, to real estate opportunities. The key is to separate the chaff from the wheat, and find a winning formula. There are many out there, online and off, that will sell you a bottle of snake oil, or things that require you to put so much effort into it, that the effort truly outweighs the gain. So what is the formula? It depends on what you believe in, what you are willing to do, and what your financial goals are. There isn’t any “magic bullet”, regardless of what the “gurus” tell you.

However, there are some things to keep in mind in doing this:

  1. Don’t buy a job. Many opportunities are just that. You want to invest your money, time and effort into something that frees you, monetarily, time-wise and emotionally, not lock you in to another prison cell.
  2. Investment capital should be minimal, or ideally zero cash upfront.
  3. Don’t stop what you are doing now, to follow your new venture. Everything takes time. You may get lucky and be wildly successful overnight, but this is not “the ususal”. Keep yourself stable.
  4. Document everything. Dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s will keep you from problems in the future. It will also help you set goals and timelines for their completion.
  5. Don’t buy-in to wild claims of millions over night, or six figures the first month. A good opportunity will build slowly, but steadily. Be patient.
  6. Remember that most of the “money making gurus” get rich telling you how to make money, not necessarily doing it themselves. There are notable exceptions, so do your research and follow those guys and gals who are actually doing what they sell.
  7. Again, be patient. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither will your financial success. Expect setbacks, and then perservere through them. The end result will come. Overcoming hurdles in your way is the difference between failure and success. Be steadfast.
  8. Surround yourself with positive people. Often times our closest friends and family can undermine our resolve and dedication. They may not see the potential or believe in the reward. Keep close those who will empower you mentally and emotionally to succeed.
  9. Work hard. If you believe in what you are doing this should be easy. If it bothersome or difficult, then you need to find something else. You are trying to find financial freedom doing the things you believe in. It should be an extension of who you are, and not require a change of ethics or morals to do it.
  10. Pray, and pray often. Putting God in the center of all you do, will not only empower you, but will give you the perspective you need to see if what you are doing is what you really want. Faith in your business, like faith in your life, is the key to success.

So when you start your journey into financial freedom, realize the scope of what you are trying to do. Realize the effort that is needed to be successful. Go to God in prayer in everything, He is the ultimate business partner. With Him leading the way you can not fail.

Be blessed, be loved and be at peace.
