I know lately I’ve been posting short insights, thoughts (musings as I call it) and etc. This new section is named as the title you see above. It covers quick and short thoughts rather than articles, podcasts, and the like. Just something short and to the point (or long and really rambling) that I’m thinking about. One of the most telling points throughout out Christian history is the divisive nature of the faith. There have always been those who are legalistic, caustic, apostic, opportunistic, and of course, the truly faithful. It is interesting to note that many can not define what Christianity really is, much less how to appropriately apply it in their own lives. A sad commentary indeed on the state of Christianity today, the church, and again, of all time. Let’s be clear. Being Christian is not something you do, it is something that you are, and the actions will flow from there. …
We must understand that the church’s purpose is to equip it’s people to deepen and/or establish their walk of faith, and relationship, with God. This is a two-fold purpose as it entails their calling (walk of faith) and their discipleship (relationship with God). All can claim daughter/son relationship once they embrace Christ, but none can claim discipleship without being taught, without searching and studying scripture, and without living what they know.
But if you don’t know it you can’t live it. This is the function of the church and it’s pastoral ministry.
